Nominees sought for Regional Wellness Councils

YELLOWKNIFE ( March 11, 2016) — The Minister of Health and Social Services, Glen Abernethy, is seeking nominations for appointments to Regional Wellness Councils across the Northwest Territories.

Regional Wellness Councils are new and are being established to ensure residents from across the Northwest Territories have the opportunity to provide input into the territorial health and social services system. These groups will help inform policy and programming decisions across the territory.

Glen Abernethy: Pharmaceutical Action Plan

Mr. Speaker, an equitable and sustainable health care system is one of the priorities of the 17th Assembly. One way we can support this priority is by improving the management of pharmaceuticals.

Mr. Speaker, to date, provincial and territorial governments have each made significant efforts to address the challenges and manage pharmaceuticals in a way that maximizes patient health outcomes while contributing to system sustainability.

Glen Abernethy: Working Together: An Action Plan to Reduce and Eliminate Poverty in the Northwest Territories

Mr. Speaker, at the appropriate time today I will table “Working Together: An Action Plan to Reduce and Eliminate Poverty in the Northwest Territories.” This collaborative Action Plan demonstrates our government’s commitment to work in partnership with other stakeholders to tackle poverty in the Northwest Territories. It builds on the great work that produced “Building on the Strengths of Northerners”, the Anti-Poverty Strategic Framework, in 2013.
